Thanks again for your hint, Kevan; i checked last night, played around 
with the various system parameters, took much closer looks at the help 
file, but no changes, neither to the better nor to the worse side. 
I'll give it a go with a different pc over the weekend; since Bruce at 
least got it working somehow on a Win2k machine chances are that it 
has something to do with my particular PC.
