If you're not going to record microphones, all you need is an audio interface. Maybe the Soundblaster is good enough, however it's not ideal for making music and you will get bad latency with the Live, the Live not having ASIO drivers. This latency will delay the realtime monitoring of your recording. The quality of the recording depends on the quality of the AD convertors on your soundcard. If these convertors are located outside the PC they will pick up less noise from the PC components. If you want to record microphones you'll need an audio interface with preamps. Good ones are expensive. If you want to use soft synths you'll need good latency - any audio interfcae with ASIO driver will do. I wouldn't recommend USB, PCI and Firewire having a much greater bandwidth. Jojo ===== http://users.pandora.be/soniclove/ __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
