Alacarte Ed is right, try the Voice Creation Examples on page 101. Furthermore, it's best to approach the manual as it written - the first half is 'Getting Started' which explains how to perform basic functions such as Scene Control, Editin Voices, Saving Voices, etc. The second half is the 'Feature Reference' which is best left until you need to understand a specific function in greater detail. It helps if you've already a basic understanding regarding the principles of subtractive synthesis - if not, there are many online resources available to you in addition to those previosly mentioned in this thread. I would encourage you to make use of the Links and Files section here at Yahoo!
