I got mine without the soundboard since I knew I would be using external synths (AN1X and TX7). I hear that the sound board is a pretty lame general midi soundcard type "tone generator" It is a good unit otherwise. If you use it with guitar there is almost no latency. With bass it's is workable like the Roland guitar synths, you kind of need to play a little ahead of the beat so it comes out on time. Highly recommended.
