Hi, I'm about to change the battery in my AN1X but first need to save all the sounds. How do I do this? I'm running Windows 7. Do I need an editor to do this, and if so, where can I find one (for free hopefully!). Cheers, Scott.

you can use any sysex recorder be it hard ware or software

if you want to edit sounds to create new patches then for pc an1xedit

which is free

payed product the best is sounddiver 3 for pc and mac

but you will have a hard time getting them as its been discontinued for  nearly 10 years

if you have any yamaha synts with sequencers they also have sysex recorders

sy85 sy77 sy99 and many yam synths have this ability in there sequencers

as do ensoniqs

and many other hardware synths

midiox will record sysex dumps as will any daw sequencer program

so yu have many avenues to choose for sysex dump of internal patches
