I bought an used AN1x just today. I'm wondering if the display was backlit at the time when the unit was new or not. Actually the display is quite weak. Can be replaced and is it an expensive operation? Thanks ws

Hello ! The backlight IS weak, even right out of the box.... I guess they've spared some light sensor (LDR) and set up the backlight for the night only... Cheers. J.F. P.S. : Theses displays are not very expensive today (Radio Spares, Mouser, Farnell and others) but i suppose it's hard to find exactly the same. Never tried ... wavesequence a \ufffdcrit :

The one in my AN1x is dim for well lit situations, but seems to be LED backlit, at the edges, so not going to get 'worse' I'd think. My SY-77 is another story. rc --- In AN1x-list@yahoogroups.com, Jeff <jf.serviere@...> wrote:

I read on another forum that these are custom items, so not easily replaced with a generic module. However, the LEDs are replacable to an extent.

Hi, The problem with the AN1x display is that it's a custom one, so couldn't be replaced by a generic display. Re the SY77 (and TG77 and SY99) the backlight failure is a common problem. I've owned all three SY/TG variants and they have all had the same problem. Fortunatley, there is a fix available for those who can do some electronics (or know somebody who can). Have a look at the fix in the following link for the TG77. I've also done this upgrade on an SY99, and previously I have also repaired an SY77 with a slightly order (now out of production display). SY77's look so much nicer in blue! http://www.yamahaforums.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=5974 Cheers Derek --- In AN1x-list@yahoogroups.com, "yp_artist_guy" <artlythere@...> wrote:
