let's just say I know where to look on IRC)....................

yes i do...especially after i saw the gear-list on
www.cikara.com...gosh, doesn´t she has almost everything? Tell me,
that you didn´t start drooling, after seeing the effect list (with
the four TC-electronic effects...hell, did she win in Lottery or
something? These babies are EXPENSIVE!)

Ah, i see you are doing it like me, trying out the "Radium"-versions
and only buying the usefull stuff later. That´s how i ended up with
Logic. Guess for the 4.5 version i need a completely new PC. I hope
it works on Duron.

Hey, it's not about what you own, but how you use it.
I have a room full of synths and haven't really done
much with them except a few. That's why I'm selling 3
of them. I've been as guilty about gearlust as anyone.

Why get rid of it? I've been thinking of selling my CS1x to get a CS2x... I
love what the CS1x can do as far as atmospheric pads.

I'm missing it...:-)
It can perform some pretty nice sounds...don't sell it, at least if you
won't need the money to buy another one.

Well....what can I say about me???
I have only a:

AN1x
TX16w (running a brand new TYPHOON 2000 OS)
Sometimes a SR-16 (borrowed..:-)
Some Industrial Sample CDs
PII 350 64MB running Re-Birth and Cakewalk ProAudio 8 (this one is saving me
w/ it's audio tracks..:-)

But I'm just getting back to business after a long time (part of my gear got
burned)...so this list will grow (sometime..:-)

Wish List:

Korg EA-1 (pretty affordable "double-monosynth"..:-)
Quasimidi Polymorph (I'm not so sure if I'll be able to buy one here in
Brazil)
AKAI S2000 or an E-MU ESi 2000 or an A4000 (depends of the money)
E-MU XL-1 Xtreme Lead (the plan B..:-)

This is NOT an official list...the subjects may change without notice..:-)

She's obviously in a higher tax bracket. She's got not just one, not just two
but
*three* Sony AIBO robot dogs...Those things aren't cheap, they're about $1500 a
pop...(considering that a real dog can be had for, like, free). Only people with
a disposable income can buy those things...I mean you need synths to create your
music, so it's a neccessity, not a luxury...but a ROBOT DOG?

I almost post a comment about that bunch of AIBOs...:-)
Anyboby took a deeper look at her gear list?
http://www.cikira.com/GearPile.html
The page's name is perfect to describe what she have (BTW, that IS an
AN1x)...I got tired reading the entire list!!! She have almost everithing we
want (almost??)
I won't mind if I get laid w/ her and make some babies to enforce her to
marry me...she's cute...and is the easiest way for me to put my hands on a
Polymorph too..:-)

people chose to use with their An1x. It has nothing to do with how much
equipment you have or what kind. I have heard people create the wildest
monsterhits using only one synth and a computer. Think about Funkstar
Deluxe's Bob Marley remix, a monsterhit and he was only using a small
sampler, small synth module and a computer. So its all about creativity.

I agree w/ you...the ones who ever listened to Aghast View's "Burst in
Crossfire" probably don't know that it was recorded using ONLY an Ensonic
EPS16...and it's an impressive, hard and dense EBM tune...
But you must agree that we can rely on WinBlows based computers (loaded w/
audio tracks) to play live...:-)

Trust me I do love some of the sounds that come out of the Cs2x but I
have been thinking and it occurred to me that why have the Cs2x and the
Rm1x when I could have the Cs6x which could essentially do both in one
keyboard w/pluses to boot...I have also been pondering the Korg Trinity
as well. The Cs6x also has sampling capabilities which is nice.
I'm basically looking at a workstation...the Trinity of course may be the
better buy.

Anyway...

Hm...true, but FOUR effectunits from TC electronic? I mean, they cost
between 2000 and 3000 US$...and she has almost every modern synth in
her list, you need equipment, but THAT much?

> ...but a ROBOT DOG?
True...i guess she is just lucky that she can do what she wants. She
probably won some money or she had had rich parents/uncle/aunt.
Or she is just hard working.
This reminds me of that dude from Germany. A couple of years ago, he
won in the lottery 42 million german marks. He bought a studio and
started to promote himself as Lotto King Karl...and know what? He
even made it into the (german) charts and since then he is still
sometimes in the charts, though he obviously can´t sing or play an
instrument.

Fellas:

I know we have already been reminded, but here's why I didn't post my
meagre list (2 synths more or less):

It's not the gear.....

It's not even the sound of the gear.....

........It's the music in your heart.

Nobody can take your music away from you. Certainly not the gear you
have. So don't let the gear you don't have do it. You have all
accomplished as much as that woman has in HER toyland, (she has put
her gear list up) and some of you have done much more.

Enjoy YOUR music.

Cheers,

Jerry

PS: I couldn't resist posting my "secret" formula for musical
success.

MSuccess = Melody + Harmony + Rhythm + Lyrics + Catalyst
(attitude/style/notoriety/fame/image/philosophy/politics/timing etc.)

Stir in appropriate quantities of all ingredients to taste <G>

There's this world championship robot football (even though robots generally
don't have feet) and there's a special category for AIBOs. So there you have
one good reason. :)

Appearantly, the AIBOs can be programmed. I wouldn't mind having one, or
two, or three.

The CS6x is not a workstation. It's a performance synth, and could be the
centerpiece of your setup, but I wouldn't call it a workstation.

The Triron definitely is one. I played with one once and it was much fun - I
mean really fun - but I don't need (and can't afford :) ) another can-all
do-all synth.

You still have more than me...(lol)...
I'm not complaining, but I use my sampler to do the drums and there's no
memory left to more sounds but a dense bass...
If at least we could perform patch changes w/ the AN1x without that
"hole"...BTW, anyone ever tried to simulate patch chances "reprogramming"
deeply a scene using the sequencer to send the appropriated controls???
Would it make the AN1x midi buffer "explode"???
It should be a nice trick...but obviously I'm not the first to think about
this...:-)..and my AN is not hooked to my PC now for me to test if it really
send all knobs functions by Midi...

I see a Korg Z1, a Kawai K5000S, some or other Nord Lead, indeed an AN1x, a
Prophecy, but I can't make out the black synths - it's too dark for that.

Also, check out the guitar controllers on the left. Those arent' real
guitars, but (probably the stuff from Starr Labs:
http://catalog.com/starrlab/ ).

Also quite a bit of monitor real estate. Impressive, indeed.

http://www.cikira.com/rig_b.html

One of those Roland 'groove' boxes that I don't care to know. Some or other
Korg from the early nineties in the background. Boxes with knobs that I
don't recognise.

Reading through the gear list tells me I do have a keen eye. :) Hey, she has
a Vintage Keys Plus. I've been told that that's a *very* nice module.

Oh dear, a JP-8000 as well... ;)

I always check the e-Bay site, but I never saw one for sale...The only place
in US that I found it was at the American Quasimidi's HQ (for about $1100).
I though about to buy it in Europe (I'll probably spend some time there in
January), but I'm concerned about if I'll be able to use it here due to some
differences on the "electricity"...you know what I mean..:-)
Probably my next synth will be a EA-1, it's easier to find in US and cheap
to "import" (I have to pay about $35 per kilo and a 50% tax of the value
that exceeds $500!!!)

OT: for the ones that have a CS2x. This link will lead you to the
"Performance Menager" site. It's a little program (shareware) that help you
to "translate" the perf. in order to do the "up-to-four-performances" trick.

The Yammie and an XP50.

I can't say enough good things about these synths. The yammie, you
all know. Great analog emulation.

The Roland, is such a workhorse. It has (for a digital synth), good
LFOs' and envelopes and something of a mod matrix (more like a
controller matrix than anything) so there is a lot you can get done.

AFAIK it has an external power-supply and should be easy replacable
by a brasilian one. Or you can buy a transformator. What do you use
in Brazil? 120V, 60Hz like in Amerika? Or 240, 50Hz like in Germany?

Wow...that´s a lot! 50% Why is that? So how much did you paid at the
end for you AN1x?
Wouldn´t it then be cheaper for you, to save your money in the next
time, then buy a round-trip to USA, make some holidays there and buy
all the gear you want, then come back with it, as your personal
stuff. Or you try to get a gig in Florida or something, so you can
bring back your new musical instruments as "working tools" or
something. The americans here, don´t they know some tricks?

Yes, i like the soundquality of Roland-synths also very much, i
always wanted to have one, but what always stops me to buy one, is
the inconsistent userinterface. Roland synths are somehow way more
complex to use than Yamaha or others. I don´t know what it is with me
and Roland, but i always have trouble with them. The odd thing is,
that Yamaha synths usually have less knobs and everything, but still
i always catch much quicker how to use them.

Someone else made the same experience?

Here in Brazil we use 120V/60Hz, but Yamaha do Brasil doesn't know about
it..:-)

it.

Not at all, but at least I'll enjoy the trip..:-)
I know a brazilian office in Miami that should send any gear via FedEx...and
avoiding the customs!!. I'll still have to pay $35 per Kilo, but only a 5 or
10% fee. Unfortunately I'll have to pay in advance and in cash.

But still better than a %50 import tax, which is ridiculous in the

FedEx is very reliable. I like that you can trace your package all

I see, but what can I do?...:-(...Our "international debt" was already paid
a long time ago, but some "rich" governmets says that it wasn't and enforce
us to pay "floating taxes" that they don't make their own citzens pay. If it

Edgar Froese is working a lot with the internet.
Actually they try to have concerts only with a keyboard and a internet connection so that they can leave all
the equipment in their studio and receive the sounds directly via internet.
But I can't figure out what he is thinking about new ways of sound editing.
the actually tangerine dream equipment is:
Edgar:
Ensoniq SQR+
Kork M1r
Kurzweil K2000r
Roland JV 1080/2080 filled up with exp.boards JP 8000
Korg T1 / Z1

Roland D 550/ JD 990/ JV 880 JV 1080/ U 220/ JP 8000
