[AN1x-list]

2001-05-16 by Darren M Boudreau

Hey,
I was wondering if anyone on this list uses an SU700? And yes I already
checked the Su700 list and received only two replies about what I was
inquiring about. Since I use Fruityloops/Acid to create drum tracks and
such I was wondering if anyone might use the SU700 to load loops and
drums from their comps to it. I thinking about this to use in a live
situation since most drum machines suck...except for maybe the old
stuff... the idea is to take what I've created and manipulated off the pc
and load it... something that isn't overly expensive... I thought about
the ASR but dunno if that would be a better way to go either... or the
little cousin of the SU700... don't have a laptop and that's out of the
question I'd rather have some kinda box... I'm into industrial/ebm
style...so with that in mind....I even thought of that little Zoom
Sampletrack... would anybody have any suggestions...

Or perhaps I should get the RM1X again....if I could create killer
distorted beats and such with it then maybe I should...

Thoughts?

Darren

Well, you *know* I'm an ASR-X fan ;-) but I'd suggest you wait, save
your money for awhile longer, and check out the Yamaha RS7000 due out
this summer(?) There's an RS7000 mailing list here at Yahoo! Groups
that has something like 150+ members - and the darn box isn't even
released yet! Think there's some pent up demand? haha ha

The concept is strinking similar to that of the ASR-X/X-Pro (ROM
Sounds/FX/Sampler/Sequencer) but, given the tremendous success of the
RM1x, I suspect it's a safe bet the RS7K sequencer will not suffer from
the poor reputation associated with the ASR-X/X-Pro sequencer! As a
matter of fact, the RM1x + ASR-X combo is quite popular on the ASR-X
list and is discussed often. Me, I get by with the X-Pro seq as a
scratch pad and Logic Audio for the rest.

If you're interested in more ASR-X info, check out my 'new' ASRXCITE
page at http://www.geocities.com/asrxcite Search Yahoo! Groups for that
RS7K list.

p.s. - anybody else hear the *rumour*, e.g., not confirmed as fact, the
Yamaha A4000 has been discontinued?

hello...
The St224, if it's the one you're thiking about is just as good it
can be in it's range of price.
I sold one a month ago..I appreciated the fx section
overall...timestretchin very good (I'mmmgonnnamakkestommpyerfeet) and
a very nice distortion too...can be use pretty well in "live"
situation, but has a sequencer, quite nice...problem comes when you
want to edit your stuff on computer.
nevertheless, you can invest in an adaptator for smart-media card, so
that you are able to load your audio loops easily to the ST. in the
other way, you'll find .zmf compressed files, that can be read with a
soft from Zoom corporation, but the problem i had was with the sample
rate...i don't remind exactly, so better not to say..sample editing
is precise enough, it allows resampling, and process direct audio
input via the fxsection.
My point of view, grab one , 'cause they sell pretty low (i know
that!) and it Has A Sound.
maybe you could wait also to see the Roland/Boss SP-303, wich works
at 44Hz, has a max of 64Megs smart storage...the story doesn't say if
it works on Alcaline or AC : )
feel free to ask me the app to load the .zmf files if you need it.
had it from zoom way back, but i believe it still somewher in my
drive.

  Jeremy.

Thanks for that wonderful bit of information. Every little bit helps...
