scene control

2001-08-04 by justinkk@hotmail.com

hi everyone. small question on scene control. if i have both scenes
selected, and the mod wheel is all the way up, it should be playing
only scene 2 right? how come when i switch between this scenario and
having only scene 2 selected (mod wheel still up), it sounds
different (a bit louder when both scenes selected)? when only scene
2 is selected, the mod wheel doesn't do anything. i even tried
turning both vco's on scene 1 to zero so it is silent, still there is
a difference btwn when i play scene 1+2 selected (mod wheel up) and
only scene 2 selected.

thanks for any help

I think you've answered your own question...reread what you've
said and then look at pages 20-21 of the Owner's Manual (you
candownload the PDF version here

i dont understand, i thought scene 1+2/mod wheel up should sound identical
to scene 2 (given mod wheel changes nothing in scene 2). but they dont.. am
i missing something? i have the manual

LITTLE DISCUSSED FACT ABOUT THE AN1x SCENES:
If you've got the patch set up to morph between scenes, sometimes selecting
a single scene from the buttons will sound different than when it's fully
selected in "morph" mode. Another way of saying it is that I've found that
some patches that have both scene LEDs lit sound different if you select one
single scene. Even with the controller (default is the Mod wheel, I use a
pedal) set fully up or down, that sound is different than when you select
the scene alone by using the buttons.

HOW THIS CAN HAPPEN:
The Mod wheel (or whatever controller you've assigned for changing scenes)
is set in the matrix to do another task besides morphing. For example, if
the Mod wheel is set to open the filter in the matrix, and it's the default
scene Morph control, then when you move the wheel all the way up - the
filter is opened on the second scene. This could be percevied as being
louder/different, etc.
Or - it's just a bug in the system and you can't figgure out what's
happening. Be cool... you've still got a great keyboard.

It's a complicated synth, with a lot of interactive functions. First you
fall in love with it, then it drives you nuts, then you begin to understand
it better and love it more, and finally you work with it much better. A lot
like a wife. :-)

Page 19

Parameters Stored In Each Scene
• All parameter group CONTROL knob position settings
(except for the [ASSIGN] group).
• VOICE SCENE SETUP Menu Mode and Control Matrix
(excluding common) parameter settings.
• VOICE COMMON menu Vari EF Dry:Wet settings.

Page 21

During Scene Control, Control Matrix settings and some of the Switch
parameters (e.g., VCF Type, LFO Wave, VCO Wave, etc.) will not
change. For these parameters, the Scene 1 settings will remain in
effect.

Make sense now?

scene control

2001-10-05 by alciere@midmaine.com

I got the scene control back-thank you. I spent most of a beautiful
morning inside, making weird metallic noises, running them through
the distortion, the echo, and the plate reverb to get an electric
kazoo in an empty pool sound. Morph between a couple of these, throw
in some filtering with the ribbon controller and a little sync pitch
control and the cats go spastic.
