I'm really new to electronic music and hence have a substantial hurdle to overcome in understanding how to do things. Does anyone know of any really simple instructions on how to use either the an expert editor or An1xEdit? I need really simple step by step instructions. Can anyone help? steve

It would help you a lot if you would read a book about "how substractive synthesis works" first. After reading and understanding that (and after reading the manual for the AN (you can download here also a .pdf version of the AN1x manual), the AN1xedit is almost self explaining. Look also here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/startingsynths If you join, you can download a "Analogue synthesis for beginners" from their file-section. and here for AN documentations and other goodies: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AN1x-list/files/ Hope it helps, Tom (aka Klaus Paulsen - www.rs7000.org)

What you need is to understand how subtractive synthesis (and synthesis in general) works. If you know the different "modules" of the synth, the OSC:s, LFO:s Envelopes and so on, it's rather easy to apply that knowledge to any Analogue/VirtualAnalogue synth, regardles of make and model. One very nice source for synthasizer info is the Sound on Sound series Synth Secrets. It started in SoS May 1999, and continued for 28 issues or so... http://www.sospubs.co.uk/sos/regular_htm/sospast4.htm /Patrik ---- The primary purpose of wings is to prevent flight ----- Original Message -----

Find some presets you like. Take notes on the parameters. Compare them. Notice some use oscillator sync and some don't. How does it sound? Find a preset that's close to what you want, and try changing one little parameter-even if you don't have a clue what you're doing. Experiment, goof around. This technique is extremely addictive and whole afternoons can vanish in seconds while you play with sounds. Rainbow Jimmy http://www.spaceanimals.com http://www.mp3.com/spaceanimals

Hi Gary and the list, Could you please tell me whether or not AN1x Edit is compatible with the AN200 (or if it will be)? Many thanks, Phil

Hi Phil The AN200 is simply a PLG150AN board hosted in a box with some XG effects and drum parts. Hence An1xEdit (in PLG150AN mode) will work fine with the AN200. However it will only edit the AN part, as it knows nothing about the drum/effect parts. Regards Gary Gregson Email:gary@... http://www.yme.co.uk/yme
