Weird MIDI problem

Weird MIDI problem

2001-11-14 by kibocheeks

Sorry this isn't directly related to the AN1x, but I'm getting frustrated
and thought someone here could help.

Basically, today I set up my MIDI gear for the first time since I moved
house. I'm using exactly the same setup. I tested it all out by running a
few older Cubase arrangements that I knew well, and everything worked fine
until I tried to enter some MIDI data from my keyboard. When the sequencer
is stopped, no MIDI data is coming in (the MIDI in indicator won't light
up). When I start the sequencer however, I can hear what I'm playing (and
the MIDI in indicator lights up), but there is some kind of latency. The
notes I play on the keyboard only sound after a delay and sometimes don't
sound at all. I am using Cubase VST 3.5 and it has always worked fine
before.

Before I set up my external MIDI gear I installed the Reason demo which I
have now uninstalled. Could this have caused any problems?

My setup is this -

AN1x MIDI out > PC MIDI in
PC MIDI out > A3000 MIDI in
A3000 MIDI thru > AN1x MIDI in

Please can anybody suggest absolutely anything, as I'm desperate to get
making music again!

Thanks for reading...

I'm not real up on Cubase but I'd hazard a guess that either 1) note
events are unintentionally being filtered (you should check your
preference settings for MIDI) or 2) there is a keyboard thru parm in
Cubase that is set incorrectly and notes are not being correctly
"thru'd" to the AN1x.

I wouldn't think so but I haven't followed much news in regards to
Reason.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Jon,

Unfortunately, it's neither of those things. No events are being filtered in
Cubase, and the Thru is on. However, I'm going to check it all again anyway!

It;s certainly something I've never come accross before. Might be tempted to
re-install everything if all else fails.
