AN Expert Editor not initializing voices completely

AN Expert Editor not initializing voices completely

2002-04-09 by Mike Bridge

I'm new to the PLG-AN, and I can't seem to figure this problem out.

When I select a new voice in AN Expert Editor 1.0.1, I find
that it doesn't initialize my plg-AN-150 fully. I'm in Voice mode
on my CS6X and a AN-150 voice is selected from the synth. The
voice will play fine. Then, when I load another voice in the Editor, it
partially initializes the edit buffer with the new voice, but not
completely.
The simplest example is if I hit "Voice Init" to get a really simple
voice in the editor. If I've got a voice selected on the synth with, say,
a
sequence, the "Init" voice from the editor is heard with the sequence, even
though there's no sequence in the editor. Turning "SEQ" on and off doesn't
seem to fix
it, and neither does switching voices - all voices (except those with
other sequences) will get the old sequence. And the same thing happens
with an LFO modulated VCF.

I thought I was going crazy, trying to edit existing voices but not being
able
to get rid of some effects.

I am having a similar problem with the AN1xEdit, so I'm wondering if
it's something in the way I'm doing this? I'm baffled!

Thanks for any help!

-Mike

I haven't used a CS6x + PLG150AN combo myself but here are
some tips & links that might point you in the right direction.

You can access the PLG150 Basics PDF from Yamaha in the
Files sections:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AN1x-list/files/Documentation/plg
150an.pdf

and Gary put together some basics/introductory tips which are
also in the files section (these are primarily focused on
configuration choices):

icks/tt_plg150an_basics.htm

David Comdico started a dedicated CS6x list which can be found
here:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CS6X/ I know that he's using the
same combo and may be of help.

This subject has come up before so I'll refer you to the list
archives too - just do a search on CS6x or PLG150 and you'll get
plenty of results to review. For example, here's a thread from just
last week:

Hope this helps,

Jon
