hey list,

sorry i'm such a lurker, but it's hard to keep up with all the 
different 
lists i subscribe to--maybe i should stop buying gear! anyway 'tis 
the season to get back into my AN1x 
after neglecting it for a few months.

i thought the patch programming tutorial thread was great. quite 
inspirational. thanks for the INIT tip, jon. one question for some of 
the seasoned programmers. how well can the AN1x do DX type FM sounds? 
any pointers on how to get started on patches in that realm?

You've now reached the end of my knowledge! Hopefull someone else can help?

I haven't had any real experience with the DX-range.

The AN1x does have a FM wave source that can be applied to the main
oscillator in different ways, but I don't expect it has as many parameters
as the DX synths which use FM Synthesis as its foundation.

If you didn't buy your AN1x new, or are missing the operating manual, I'll
gladly photocopy post the relevent pages out to you free of charge -
although the manuel doesn't really go into FM Synthesis to much detail.

I did discover however that the "Appendix" within the manuel covers basic
sound creation examples covering basses, strings etc. which may be a good
place to start for anyone wondering what the various 'analogue' parameters
do, and how they are applied to particular sounds.

That's a generous offer on your part Phil but probably unnecessary.

Just a reminder that a number of AN1x Manuals in PDF format, along 
with the Quick Start guide, are available to the list members from 
the Files section here at eGroups.  Logon to your eGroups user 
id/email address, go to the Files section, and select the 
Documentation folder.
