Hello,

if u go to

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AN1x-list/database

and then in Gear
u will find it already :-)

indeed u don't need tons of gear to make nice music
it is just nice to have them :-))
gear lust is called ...
and the big studios have (of course) to show off too !

besides if u have only 2 or 3 good ones u can also
concentrate on them and get out the best in a synth
rather then using 100s synths with presets.
i am often tempted to sell all and keep just 2 or 3 PRO things
but when i look at my studio .. boy ! i just can't sell anything
i adore them all in one way or another.

Peter Gabriel once said (at the time of Passion)
.. most of the thing can be done by anyone at home
.. it is only when u look
for that "special" last touch that u need the pro
stuff (and i recall he meant eventide, top lexicon , AMS etc etc)

Nowadays with few K$ or Keuro u can set up a super pro recording
studio at home, with a super sound.
.. but never forget the old golden rule
.. it is not the gear is the head (and if i may add is the experience too !)

Regards

an150/an1x/an200,or just reaktor/reason.The question I am asking is that why are home/pro studios so full of gear,is their a need
for it? Is there anyone on here that keeps buying lots of software/outboard gear, and not knowing or have the time to learn to use
it.

Yamaha S80 with 150AN
Waldorf Pulse
Clavia Nord Modular Key (expanded)
Clavia MicroModular
(and veeeery soon a Waldorf XTk)
Athlon T-bird 1400 512MB 30+40GB
RME digi96/8 PST
Alesis AI-3
midex 8
Phonic 1705
Line6 Echo Pro
Cubase SX
Wavelab 3
LM4 mkII XXL
Loopazoid

Regarding the debate about what you have and what you really use. I love
both the NordModulars and the Pulse. I know them pretty well, and actually
often end up programming and tweaking them instead of making music. The
piece of equipment I'm least satisfied with is, unfortunatley, the S80. It's
very awkward to program, and the user interface is a nightmare, so it's
mostly used as a preset module + master keyboard. Unfortunatley, it doesn't
excell as a master keyboard either, so I have had thoughts about trying to
trade it for a Kurzweil PC88 and a K2000R(S). I had a PC88 before the S80
(it drowned in a flooding unfortunatley) and of course it doesn't cover as
wide a sonic spectra as the S80, but it's good at what it does, and it's a
superb master keyboard. Combined with a K2000 I don't think i would miss the
S80... The PLG-150AN is also a bit unfriendly to deal with, but it's capable
of some very nice sounds, so in a way, that's the main reason for not
getting rid of the S80 (although the S80 is a rather good "voice-bank" for
more traditional sounds, and it has some amazeing pads...).

Regards!

I usually just lurk on this list but...

An1x
Korg Mono/Poly
Korg Microkorg
roland spd-11 drum pads
roland tr505
oxygen 8
k-sound controller

2.4ghz P4 laptop,512mb ram, 40gig internal HD, 30gig USB 2.0 external hard drive
m-audio quattro
reason 2.0
ableton live 1.5
logic(soon)

acustic instruments
tama drum kit
clarinet
flute
vibraphone
violin and cello(in the mail...NAMM purchase)
Didgeridoo(in the mail...another NAMM purchase)

For people that use the microkorg, are there any list out there for this instrument. Also does anyone know if it is possible to set up a patch to have the mod wheel control the speed of LFO1. Then the speed of LFO1 will control the cross modulation of OSC1 which is set up in the control 2 setting of the OSC1 group. Also does anyone know if you can control the other settings on the microkorg with external midi controllers.
