sustain pedal ?

sustain pedal ?

2003-08-31 by Jaun Manuek

Hello,

I only own a boss ev-10 sustain pedal from my guitar years.
I used to use it as sustain pedal on my roland xp10.

Could I configure the an1x to use the ev-10 as sustain ?

Is there any button function that allows me to sustain..
(not ADSR release !!!)

thanks,

jma

I'm uncertain whether the BOSS pedal is the same polarity as the Yamaha (Bruce
would probably know the answer.) If not then it will work in reverse: when open
sounds will sustained - when closed sounds will not. An FC4 or FC5 shouldn't cost
too much. I had the KORG equivalent of the FC7 and sold it before buying the AN1x -
pretty short sighted on my part :-/

Hi Juan,

As originally designed, the BOSS pedal will probably work backwards, unless it has a switch to select the polarity. Roland polarity and Yamaha polarity are opposites. Most BOSS pedals have polarity switches, though; my FS5U and FS5L pedals do. If you're adventurous with a soldering iron, most non-selectable pedals actually have internal connections for setting up the opposite polarity: I've often changed both Yamaha and Roland pedals in this manner to suit my gear-lust habits. ;^) The Roland sustain pedal even has the polarities marked as "NO" and "NC" on the PC board.

Oh and Jon, the FC-7 is still sold, and widely used. Korg ships their version with the CX-3 and BX-3 organs.
