Only The Midi Event that You Send To The Sequencer. It Can Be the Note, Or The Parameter. I Suggest You To Read More About MIDI Implementation To solve Your Questions About What Is Being Send And What Is Not. (the Sonar Manual Has some Explaining Of this)

Hi Thornfellow, >If i record in midi mode, is the an1x will send all the scene with >effect and everything like the one we have in audio? Or is it send >only some parameter... MIDI is not an audio format. It only sends information about the physical performance, so it can be recreated at the other end. Think of it as like the rolls on a player piano (Pianola): The rolls tell which notes to strike and when, but they do not create music to listen to. They are just a code to tell the player piano how to play, and without the piano, they are not very useful. MIDI is similar -- although MIDI can provide more information than just the notes. MIDI is a code to describe the performance, for playback on another, similar instrument. If you record a song on your AN1x, and send it to me, it will only sound the same if a) I, too, have an AN1x; and b) I use the same preset as you did. Otherwise, only the notes, mod wheel settings, etc. will be the same, and the sound may be quite different. Modern sequencer programs (Cubase, Cakewalk, Sonar, Logic, etc.) have confused this situation because they can record PCM audio along with the MIDI tracks. The audio, however, is NOT really "MIDI," but is simply synchronized to the MIDI. Also, the audio only remains in the file by using the proprietary format of the program. Typically, that format is only useful to another user with the same program: Sonar to Sonar, Cubase to Cubase, etc. If you convert the file to a universal format like .MID or .SMF, the audio will be lost. I hope this helps. Regards, -BW -- Bruce Wahler Ashby Solutions\ufffd http://music.ashbysolutions.com 978.386.7389 voice/fax bruce@...

Not to detract what Bruce said, he is dead on. But to add a bit more. In sonar I can save my audio file outside the sonar format. (typically a wave, mp3 and others are possible). My band members and I of course have different software. We agreed on certain timing settings or we note it along with the file. Like at .5 seconds place wave x. 1.001 place wave y. (and the midi is sent too) That way, the midi and audio can be re-assembled on what ever software they record with. This has worked out very well with Sonar to Cubase and vice-versa. Most of the members I work with is overseas or 1500+ miles away. The midi is great as we also now have the staff to publish and transpose as needed. I also use midi to run my effects live with the synths I use (DSP1024 Behringer is a good example). Dale Administrator for Kay-Net.com admin@...
