Battery dies after about a month. Anyone have any suggestions?

The subject of a schematic has come up in the past - I think Ed was 
trying to find one, don't know that he succeeded :-/

How oftenhave you had to replace the battery - more than once or is 
this the 1st time?  Shouldn't cost too much for an authorized  
service tech local to you to perform the work.
