Don't record it at 96 K. Run it through a beater tube amp, mic the
amp with an old Shure SM57 and run all that through a tube preamp
compressor. You need a little hiss and crackle to get it to sit right
in the mix.

Hey can anyone suggest a good tube pre-amp to use for the below purpose
as I don't want to haul a real tube amp around along with my Roland
amp.

check out the new Korg version... looks promising..
korg's web site...
the 4 channel Behringer are good too, GC has then for anywhere used from $100 to $250.

A lot of the people in clonewheel organ group swear by SpeakEasy Tube
Preamps (haven't tried one myself). They are available in
mono "stompbox" and stereo rackmount versions, and are
expensive.

I'm guessing this doesn't work and contains parts long since extinct
but it would certainly take care of any problems with high fidelity.

A 50s tube reel to reel. Beautiful.Mono.

Are you allowed to record synthesizers on monophonic tube tape
recorders?

If you aren't stuck on Tubes, the current "Bass V-amp" by Behringer
has a preamp with amp modelling (it was designed for bass, and acoustic guitar,
AND keyboards) and patches designed specifically for keyboards.

I own one and like it a lot, might be worth checking out anyway.

Yeah I'm hoping to find something a little cheaper but they do seem to
have their fans.
