Help finding SoundDiver! or better software to operate Kawai Spectra via Win XP

Help finding SoundDiver! or better software to operate Kawai Spectra via Win XP

2008-12-30 by peilong75

Hello, I recently got ahold of a Kawai Spectra synth which I've become
quite attached to. I have been trying to connect it to my PC running
Windows XP. I noticed that some users made available a patch editor
for it that runs on SoundDiver. I then found out SoundDiver is owned
by apple, who actually discontinued the software several years ago. My
first thought was that it might be possible to still obtain a pc
version of sounddiver on the internet somehow, but it seems nearly
impossible.

I was wondering if there is any other way in which I can use the patch
editor for the Kawai Spectra eventhough it was created to be used with
SoundDiver; is there any new librarian/midi software that can
communicate with my old synthethizer? I don't know about computer
programing or have much experience with sound modules or synths but I
am getting quite confortable with my KC10. Well, hopefully someone
might be able to help me on this. Could any of you share SoundDiver 3
or else point me in the direction of it?
Perhaps there is a better software that is at least in the market
right now and which I could use to operate and interact with my Kawai
Spectra via Windows XP; any suggestions?

thanks a lot. I really appreciate any help.

I don't know anything about the Kawai Spectra, but you might want to try two universal editors/librarians: MIDIQuest from SoundQuest and UniSyn from MOTU.

Good luck,

Jeff

p.s. a soft called Midiquest is most complete i've seen since
sounddiver was kidnapped and murdered by apple. it's around too.

i think you are wrong dopelrr , there is no warez version out there,
avalon
sound designer
soft synth
midiquest
 yes,
no warez of sound diver or sound sound surfer either!
if so please show me , i have a large collection and would like to add..
there is zero interest from the atari community to develop programs ,so the
handfull of users left have to seek
programs where we can find them.

Hey guys, I found it. Charles is dead-on in that we have it tough
finding some programs and the community is all we have; so share we
shall. Particularly when corporations like Apple decide to drop a
powerhouse like SoundDiver for no reason at all, worst yet, when there
are hidden agendas. in any case, I found SoundDiver 3 and would like
to upload it to the group's file folder. the thing is, it's not
uploading, the rar is only 35Mb yet it always fails. any suggestion?

Re: Help finding SoundDiver! or better software to operate Kawai Spectra via Win XP

2009-01-02 by peilong75

alright, SoundDiver is up now, Files/APPS/Emagic folder and inside
there are 9 pieces. Turned out uploaded files can't be larger than 5MB
so I had to split the .rar into 8 parts, the .bat file joins them
together. I'm aware commercial files are not allowed but, since Apple
efectively killed SoundDiver some 6 or 7 years ago, this is hardly
considered 'commercial' any more.
thanks to doplerrr for pointing me in the right direction. I'll be
tinkering with SoundDiver and the Kawai synth over the weekend, will
let you guys know how it turns out.
Thanks again.

peilong u dummy !
this is a pc versio of sound diver,,

what are you doing to this group ?

atari computer...from the 80's remember?

its a shame these file sharing areas lie about the content of their files ..

i think i should ask the moderator to politily and correctly remove any
thing related to this thread ..
so long peikong, i like to think of this as an atari only forum ..if its
not code that can be used on the atari or atari programs , then there are
better more suitable places to ask for warez or help ,or whatever,,
ok thanks anyhow.

Hi peilong,

I'd suggest you remove the SoundDiver files again from the files
section, since
a) we don't want to store warez here in the files section.
b) the files section holds only 100 MB total and this upload takes 35%
of that total file space.
c) it's a PC program and not Atari.

Perhaps you can leave a link to the source where you found it in the
first place, and anybody wo wants to get this PC version nevertheless
should download it RIGHT NOW before it's removed.

Thanks anyway for your good intentions and happy new year to all.

:^) Greg

Yeah, that would've been nice, because I sure could use it. Geez
couldn't you have left it up for more than a day??

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
