When I've had similar things happen it has usually turned out to be the CKSEL fuses. I've had situations where the fuses where clears to "0000"; I connected an external clock and was able to reset them. I'm using the Dragon to program the 48V chip. I've replaced the chip and now I'm back to work. I would like to know what happened so if was something I did I can avoid it in the future.
