The OLD JTAG mk1 only works with a limited number of OLDER chips, the newer JTAG MK2 works with all chips. I use the old (homemade) mk1 with M16/M32/M64 and M128, the JTAG of the Dragon with newer chips like the M164P as well as the older chips. What is the problem with your set up that "won't work"? Do you have a properly setup JTAG port? JTAG and OCDEN fuses need to be enabled for debugging. OCDEN seems to be automatically set up at debug time but I have mine checked anyway during debug sessions.
