stk502 atmega169 clocks

2008-03-31 by bronzefury

Hi,

I'm using WinAVR, AVR Studio 4, STK502 development board populated with
an atmega169. I'm currently trying to understand how to use the UART
and am reading the ATMEGA169 datasheet (doc2514). To help me
understand how to use the UART, I'm trying my best not to look at any
code to see if I can figure it out by understanding all the gory
details.

The atmega169 datasheet refers to a variable called fosc in the USART
secstion and I'm having a tough time figuring out what fosc is for the
stk502. Can anyone provide guidance as to what this value is and how
to figure it out?

Again, referring to the stk502, what are the clock frequencies for clk
(CPU), clk(FLASH), clk(I/O), and clk(ASY)? And, how are these
frequencies derived?

Thanks,
bronzefury
