I measured the freq it was using, nomatter what I set the fuses at it was set at 16Mhz, I was thinking 8Mhz which i set it to, that may be why 24 worked, measured from the xtl1 pin. I put my own xtl in to make sure it was operating at the freq i knew. It now makes sence. Brian P.S. My goal is to be the best so that I can teach others to be better. not to mention AVR's are so much fun. I love to see them do what I tell them to do.
