Hi. there is too many IDE interfacing schematics and free projects on web, but you should note that all IDE devices use a common command set known as ATA standard, which is accessible on net. you should send commands to IDE device and get answer back of it. at the other hand, there is a hidden sector in IDE controller's memory area which contains all needed information about HDD/CDROM including # of heads and cylinders and sectors/track. by know, I dont remember where u can find stuff you want, but if it's an emergency I can try to find it in my download archive. but all versions that I remember uses AVR micros. but if you want to do so with '51 family or by IBM-PC is to convert the code on your own. for connecting directly to IDE via PC port, you need to have a PPI port or something like that. good luck. reza. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
