AVR-Chat

First off, what LCD display are you trying to use?  Did you find the data 
sheet for it?  Did you try to write a program according to the data sheet?

I've succesfully used Optrex 16X2 LCD's for many applications. Pretty 
simple. I even wrote the code in assembler.
