I have used the Memsic 2D accelerometers in a toy magic wand for many years. The Memsic part is very similar to the AD202, but cheaper and slower. The accelerometer, coupled to an AVR, performs tilt and motion sensing. The analog interface code is straight-forward, and I'd be happy to share mine (assembly).
