Actually I can claim to be very rare, only 2 other people in the world have reported the problem of Baclofen Toxicity, the drug Baclofen is primarily used to stop the shakes etc in Parkinsons sufferes, I was using it to stop muscle cramps from another drug I am on. For some reason it was not being removed from my system and built up to the level where my brain shut down, luckily I was found by my ex partner unconcious, but still shallow breathing, when I was in Resus, in the hospital my breathing finally stopped. luckliy my heart kept going, but it was touch and go for about 8 days where my heart kept stopping and then restarting on its own, my breathing was artifically halted after day 2 with drugs (the baclofen was removed from my system by haemodialisis) but I was badly fitting so they had to keep me heavily sedated and also kept me sedated so that the brain had most of the O2 in my system to carry over when my heart stopped for up to 30 seconds (after 30 seconds they were using CPR and a defibrilator) It was rather scary for my family (and the stress killed my relationship with my then partner) but I was blissfully unaware Luckily no lasting damage, and they predict I will have a full recovery in the next few months (liver is slowly repairing its self still) Regards, Kat. -- --------------------------------------------------------------- K.A.Q.
