If you are designing a custom PCB then it is much more cost effective to build this HOST interface in. Your solution is idea if the hardware already exists and you have no way to modify it. Although, are they not specific to the task, such as camera to hard disk interface? Would they be generic enough to work with the requirements of this query? Dave. They are used to allow a camera to download to a USB hard disk for example.....I have one, it was not expensive. Would something like that help?
