Yes both LED's are green. Read signature in AVR Studio just gives me: A popup that says it couldn't identify the chip. And in the log area at the bottom: Setting mode and device parameters.. OK! Entering programming mode.. FAILED! Leaving programming mode.. OK! I get the same thing in the log area if I bring up any of the tabs. The only thing that does work is reading the line voltage (5VDC) -Kenny ----- Original Message ----- From: "bit_tricks" <bit.tricks@gmail.com> To: AVR-Chat@yahoogroups.com Sent: Thursday, January 21, 2010 2:27:14 PM GMT -05:00 US/Canada Eastern Subject: [AVR-Chat] Re: AVRISP -> AtTiny Communication Problem Kenny- 1. Can you confirm that the LED status light on the shell of your programmer is glowing green? There is a second green LED on the interior of the programmer. Both should be lit when everything is properly working. 2. What happens when you try to read the device signature in AVR Studio? Just for the record, I too have been fortunate enough to have used multiple AVR programmers, including the STK500, AVRISP, Dragon, and several AVRISPmkII's, without having one fail. However, I've never operated one outside of its limits to test robustness. Rick
