While that is true, there are many Atmel parts on Allocation forcing prices up.
Atmel won't even give delivery dates for their DataFlash parts at this point.
Mega645 parts and many of the TIny parts are allocated as well.

Seems we are reliving 1983 or so, the last major Allocation Boom/Bust cycle.
Everyone can't get parts now, so they double or triple order from
different suppliers, then when they get the parts,
the factory is stuck with a glut of parts, driving prices down.  Not
that, that helps when you need to deliver products today.
