If your time is worth $1/hour you'll come out ahead buying Graham's
kits.

If you have all the time in the world and no deadline then by all means
hunt down the parts individually from multiple sources. Its a good
learning experience, something you'll need in the future if you continue
in this field. But its not something you should have to do for your
first project.
