ZiLOG have released ZDS II versions 4.7.0, 4.7.2, 4.8.0 and 4.8.2 all with faults that prevent it from compiling my existing code base (ECROS) which I wrote under 4.6.1. They withdrew the original Z8 Encore! from the market (probably due to its horrible defects, but they won't admit that), replaced it with one that is not fully software compatible and can't be programmed with 4.6.1. That's just the tip of the iceberg, but alone it explains my presence here. I wish I had never heard of the Z8 Encore! and had started out with the ATmega64 two years ago. Mind you, the Z8 Encore! is much easer to understand and program than the ATmega and you only need one pin for firmware load and in-circuit debug. If only ZiLOG wouldn't screw up all the time ...
