You could probably use the MMBT2222AL  (NPN) and
MMBT2907AL (PNP).  They are general purpose transistors
that would likely work where the 3904 and 3906 do.
I believe they have the same pinout in the SOT-23 package.
These are current "dime-a-dozen" transistors. You will find them at
most supply houses and probably even on e-bay.
