I just got the STK500 and plan to use the Tiny26 >with it. >Dennis From memory, one of the ribbon cables had to be cut and a wire extended off onto one of the other jumper pins, plus another seperate jumper link or something. The only place it was documented was deep within the Help file for the AVR Studio software (go figure). Nowhere was it documented in the latest documentation for the actual STK500 board (where all of the other chips are documented), which would of course be the logical place to put it. I complained to Atmel and they appologised profusly and said they were aware of the issue and were looking into fixing it (almost a year after the Tiny26 was released). At the time it was my first introduction with AVRs, and combine that with the (easy to do) problem of locking up the ISP mode of the chip rendering it completely unprogrammable in ISP mode, another essentially undocumented trap - I was not a happy little camper. By far the most frustrating and idiodic introduction to any microcontroller family I have ever used, it almost turned me off AVRs for good. I won't even mention WINAVR which I tried to setup and then tossed in the recycle bin in despair. Support from the local reps?, they just tell you to visit AVRFREAKs and all your problems will be solved - NOT! I seriously would not recommend the AVR for beginners for these reasons alone. Dave :)
