As a side note, the STK500 uses a different programming algorithm, a different comm protocol, or both as it is much faster at programming than a 910-style programmer. It takes perhaps 20% to 30% of the time. Because of this, I generally use the ISP capability of the STK500 to program full Mega32s (using a 6 conductor cable from the STK500 to my prototype) instead of using the 910 programmer.
