I know this is getting WAY off topic, but the gov't has the largest 
collection of super computers on the planet.  they listen to every 
phone call, fax transmission, and e-mail already.

Popular Mechanics did an article some years ago on the Echelon 
system. there are some specific words that signal the system.

the author called collegues on the phone and mentioned those words.  
in a few weeks men in black suits and sunglasses came asking 
questions.

He documented the whole thing and showed how it works.

So, you can worry that your e-mails my be lost to you, but rest 
assured they will show up in the event you are every investigated.

Also, remember the paper in which you used your #2 Dixon Ticonderoga 
and filled in the little circles for you SAT test ?   That paper, 
with your fingerprints and your smudged pencil marks is still on 
archive in climate controled rooms.

Although it's been some 5 years since my last experiance, I know that 
5 years ago, Congress had not approved the scanning and digital 
storeage to replace the storage of the origional paper SAT cards.

But, if you have not tried Gmail, the way it keeps threads is just 
great.

And, Thundebird will read and store it on your hard disk.
