in the beginning of the program

Open "com2:19200,8,n,1" For Binary As #1

further down:

*****read new settings from the eeprom

Disable Interrupts
Close #1
Open "com2:9600,8,E,1" For Binary As #1
Enable Interrupts
*
*

there is no change in the actual settings of the com port....
