Interfacing POS peripherals used to be my life. In the early-mid 90's that is all I did. I do have some of the specifications for POS peripherals such as IBM 468x, 469x, IBM 3680, NCR OCIA, and ICL/Datachecker Multidrop. The Specification that I have for ICL is the Multidrop. This was a RS422 I/F where one channel was the master and the other was a slave. Basically the Master (Cash register CPU) would send out commands on the Master channel. All devices(Scanner, Scale, Display, etc...) would respond on the Slave channel. The little bit of info I could find on this particular device points to an RS232 I/F. If that's the case then everything I know about ICL would be meaningless. When Fujitsu purchased ICL all access to their I/F specifications was cutoff. There is no such thing as a POSLAN that I know of. I have been out of the POS industry for a couple years but a few months ago I got back in. With the proliferation of PC's and Windows there have been some attempts at standardizing these types of communication. Epson has been spearheading OPOS with Microsoft http://pos.epson.com/pointofsale/opos.html as one major attempt. My suggestion is if this is an RS232 I/F more than likely if you figure out the Baud rate you should be able to send ASCII chars and see them display. What you won't know is any special commands such as Blink the cursor, Hide the cursor, etc... Hope this helps.
