AVR-Chat

I have the following code written in icc avr compiler


 uart_init()//intialiation of uart
 delay();
  while(condition=true)
 {
 while(!(UCSRA&(1<<UDRE)));
 UDR=data
 }

The problem is when  i remove the delay  
the uart is transmitting is some junk char's .
But if  the delay() is present there ,there is no problem .
KIndly advice to rectify the problem
