The other point I was trying to make is that in the early stages of a project when your management is flopping every which way with the slightest breeze, a production estimate using Digi-Key prices is a very fair place to start. Is fine for management to pay their own employees to do fool's errands, but "Crying 'Wolf!'" is not something you want to burden suppliers with. When one really needs support it won't be there as they have learned others are real paying customers and you are not.
