My take is that what you are implementing, with your two wires and
reversing ends, a pair of proprietary modems.  RS232 stops at the DB25
connector to your modem and resumes at the DB25 on the other modem. 
What you do in between is your business - to get the data to the other
end any way you like at whatever speed you can on any number of wires,
or not (pull on a string if you like) - but it is not RS232 again
until you convert whatever you created back to RS232.
