I verified today the availability of production quantities of the AT90PWM series chips, and these seem to have sufficient resources to do what I need. I'm still wrapping my head around the PWM peripheral, but so far it looks pretty good. So, at less than $5, for these, yes, $20 is a lot. -Micah
