Since Norbert is from Germany I believe what he meant is a projector,
like a Home Theather projector. Beamers are what they are called in
Germany as far as I know, and since it sounds like an english word he
probably assumed it is the same over here.

There are a couple of those trick words in Germany that sound English,
but are not used in the US. Another one that got me confused when I
came to the US is "Handy", which to a German guy sounds English. It is
the term used in Germany for a cell phone.
