AVR-Chat

I'm having trouble with the latest studio (460 with SP1) launching.
The problem is intermittent, and no apparent cause.
 
When I try to launch the program, I get an error box saying:

Program C:\program files\atmel\avr tools\avrstudio4\avrstudio.exe
 
The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an 
unusual way.
Please contact the applicaton's support team for more information.

Reboooting does not help, removing and reinstalling studio does not 
help.
Of course when this is happening, I can't work.
After a while, (hours-days) it will go away, or at least it has in 
the past.
 
Any ideas what I can do to prevent this?  I'm on a crash project for 
a client at the moment.
