I have "Programing and Customizing the AVR Microcontroller" and "AVR, An Introductory Course".

I would not say either is great, as I seem not to be able to find all the info I need from just one. But between the two, and some sample from Atmel, I can usually figure things out. I would rate them as good, but not great. There may be some better books others may know of.

Hi, I just joined. I'm a beginner with respect to AVR and any embedded
programming. I do have a strong programming background in C, C++,
assembly and VB.

Mindful of the moderator's admonition to not ask others to do your
homework, can anyone suggest a comprehensive book for beginners,
preferably one that assumes programming experience but does start with
very basic AVR concepts. I like to see a lot of practical examples
that are fully explained.

Thanks!
