First of all , Thanks John for ur timely response.
My crystal clock frequency is 20Mhz .. i wanted to run my controller at full speed i.e., 20Mhz .. in order to achieve that i've NOT selected the fuse "Divide clock by 8 internally". Its a known fact tat the ISP frequency should be less than 1/4 th of the target clock frequency, but the maximum attainable ISP frequency is 1.845 Mhz. If thats the case then how should i run my controller @ 20 Mhz?? because 20Mhz / 4 = 5 Mhz.
I have 1 more doubt .. In the AVR studio, i've set the clock frequency as 20000000 hz in the "Configurations Options" is that the only place where i can enter my clock frequency or am I still missing something? Plz throw some light on the same.
Thanks & Regards,
Krish.

whatever your clock frequency is, make sure that the STK500 is set
at a max 1/4 of that. I usually have my clock for the programmer
at about 230KHz.
