There are two sets of GCC routines for FAT access at 
http://http://avr.15.forumer.com/index.php?showforum=3 and I think one 
of them is set-up for SD cards. I also think I saw at least one using 
assembler in the assembly forum too.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
