Agreed, soldering TQFP packages by hand is just not that hard, I do as
 ken says, and then also use desoldering braid to clean up bridges
between the pins afterwards. Very easy, especially if your only doing
1 board !

Also, welcome to the AVR DARK SIDE , many underestimate the power of
the DARK SIDE.
