AVR-Chat

Hi there;

I recently received my AVRISP MKII but it appears to have a problem.
Before I send it back I thought I would just check to see if anyone
here has had a similar problem in case there is a magic fix I can
apply.  

Avrdude and avrstudio are able to communicate with it on rudimentary
terms (recognize it exists and can set the communication clock speed).
However, it is unable to communicate with any of my processors.
avrdude claims it can't get a signature and avrstudio says it can't
communicate whenever I try to erase the chip or read the fuses.  

The chips and boards in question program fine through my parallel port
programmer with avrdude or UISP plus it works ok when programmed
through an STK500 using avrdude, UISP or avrstudio.
