The source resistance still matters, because the AVR inputs have 
leakage currents into or out of the pins. If the source resistance is 
large relative to that current, then the voltage on the cap will be 
affercted, or dominated, by that leakage current.

Check the specs, and design to survive the maximum specified leakage.
